O Monumento da Renascen\u00e7a Africana \u00e9 um gigantesco monumento estatu\u00e1rio de bronze que representa os 50 anos da independ\u00eancia do Senegal, localizado na cidade de Dakar. Conta com 49 metros de altura e custou US$ 27 milh\u00f5es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O Monumento da Renascen\u00e7a Africana no topo de uma das duas colinas g\u00e9meas chamadas Collines des Mamelles, nos arredores de Dakar. Com vista sobre o oceano Atl\u00e2ntico, no sub\u00farbio de Ouakam, foi desenhado pelo arquiteto senegal\u00eas Pierre Goudiaby segundouma sugest\u00e3o apresentada pelo presidente Abdoulaye Wade, e constru\u00eddo por uma empresa da Coreia do Norte. O arranque das obras preparat\u00f3rias deu-se no topo da colina de 100 m de altitude em 2006, e a constru\u00e7\u00e3o da est\u00e1tua de bronze come\u00e7ou 3 de abril de 2008. O plano original previa o fim da constru\u00e7\u00e3o em 2009, mas v\u00e1rios atrasos fizeram com que fosse terminada em 2010, e em 4 de abril de 2010, no dia nacional do Senegal, foi inaugurada, para coincidir com o 50.\u00ba anivers\u00e1rio da independ\u00eancia senegalesa. \u00c9 a mais alta est\u00e1tua do mundo fora da \u00c1sia e da antiga Uni\u00e3o Sovi\u00e9tica, sendo muito criticada pelo esbanjamento num pa\u00eds pobre, pois custou 27 milh\u00f5es de d\u00f3lares, e tamb\u00e9m pelo estilo estalinista de inspira\u00e7\u00e3o norte-coreana, com figuras semi-despidas com tra\u00e7os n\u00e3o africanos, algo n\u00e3o apreciado num pa\u00eds africano de maioria mu\u00e7ulmana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
